As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing projects related to mechanical engineering in various industry sectors such as construction, manufacturing, and transportation. Your main duties will include:

Project Planning and Coordination:
You will develop project plans, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for mechanical engineering projects. You will also collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure successful project execution.

Risk Management:
You will identify potential risks that may affect project timelines, budgets, and quality. You will develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimise these risks.

Quality Control:
You will oversee the quality of the mechanical engineering work being done, ensuring that it meets industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Communication:
You will be responsible for communicating with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, suppliers, in-house engineering team members and the management teams, to ensure that project objectives are met, and that everyone is fully informed regarding project statuses.

Team Management:
You will be responsible for managing teams of mechanical engineers and support staff, providing leadership, direction, and support as needed. You will also ensure that team members have the necessary training and resources to perform their jobs effectively.

Budget Management:
You will be responsible for managing project budgets, ensuring that all costs are accounted for and that the project is completed within set budget constraints.

Documentation:
You will ensure that all project-related documentation, such as drawings, specifications, reports and O&M manuals, are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

Problem-Solving:
You will be responsible for identifying and resolving issues that may arise during the project, including technical problems, schedule delays, and resource constraints.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems and will ideally have some steam experience (although not essential) as well as several years of demonstrable experience in managing mechanical engineering projects. You should also have excellent communication skills, leadership and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast paced team environment.

As a heating engineer, your primary responsibilities will be the installation, maintenance and repair of varying different types of heating systems in commercial and industrial settings. Your duties will include:

Installation:
You will be responsible for installing heating systems, including, but not limited to, steam, MTHW and LTHW boilers, pipework, pumps, valves, expansion vessels and pressure vessels.

Maintenance and Repair:
You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heating systems and pipework systems, including trouble shooting heating issues, and replacing faulty parts.

Quality Control:
You will need to inspect all finished work to ensure it meets industry standards and task specifications.

Safety:
You will be required to follow strict safety guidelines when working with heating and pipework systems, including ensuring relevant safety devices are in place and following set out safety procedures.

Communication:
You will need to communicate with customers, other members of the engineering teams, including engineers, fabricators and project managers, to ensure that any given task is completed on time and to the required standard and specification.

Problem-Solving:
You will be required to have the ability to troubleshoot problems that may arise during installation, maintenance, or repair of heating systems, including identifying the root cause of technical issues and determining and implementing solutions.

Customer Service:
You be required to provide excellent customer service, including explaining technical information to customers, answering questions, and providing solutions to customer problems.

To be successful in this role, you will have completed a NVQ HVAC qualification in heating engineering. You should also have experience in installing, maintain and repairing heating and pipework systems, as well as sound knowledge of industry standards and regulations. Additionally, you will have strong communication skills, the ability to work well as part of a team, and a commitment to safety.

As a welder you will be required to carry out various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick and Flux-cored welding. Your main duties will include:

Reading Blueprints and Plans:
You will need to be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings to determine the correct welding techniques and materials required for any given task.

Material Preparation:
You will be responsible for preparing metal surfaces for welding, which includes cleaning, grinding, and cutting metal pieces to the required size and shape.

Welding Techniques:
You will be proficient in various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-cored welding. You will choose the appropriate welding method for each given task, depending on the type of metal and the desired strength of the weld required.

Quality Control:
You will need to inspect finished welds to ensure they meet industry standards and task specifications.

Welding Safety:
You will be required to follow strict safety guidelines when working with hot metals, welding equipment, and gases. You will be required to wear the appropriate PPE for any given task, including but not limited to, welding helmets, safety boots, gloves, and fire-retardant overalls.

Equipment Maintenance:
You will be responsible for ensuring that your welding equipment is clean and in a safe working order. Any faults or repairs required will be immediately reported to your line manager for action.

Communication:
You will be required to effectively communicate with other members of the engineering team, including engineers, fabricators, and project managers, to ensure any given task is completed on time and to the required specification.

Problem Solving:
You will be required to have the ability to troubleshoot and problems that may arise during welding, such as material warping, welding equipment malfunctions, or other related technical issues.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the required vocational training in welding. You should also have demonstrable experience in welding techniques, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and excellent attention to detail. Additionally, you will have strong communication skills, the ability to work well as part of a team, and a commitment to safety.
