We’ve continued to strengthen our commitment to developing the next generation of skilled engineers with the appointment of two new heating and ventilation apprentices, Alfie Edwards and Filip Stanek.
Both Alfie and Filip, age 16, have joined the James Ramsay team and will complete their apprenticeships through Glasgow Kelvin College, combining their studies with practical, hands-on experience within the business.
Ian Mathieson, Business Director at James Ramsay, said: “Investing in apprenticeships is hugely important to the future of James Ramsay and to the wider industry. We’re delighted to welcome Alfie and Filip to the team and to support them as they begin their engineering careers.
“What really matters now is providing both Alfie and Filip with the opportunities to develop their skills, supporting their studies at Glasgow Kelvin College and ensuring they have access to the practical experience they need to become the next generation of engineering professionals.
“We’ve always believed in developing talent from within our business, and we look forward to seeing both Alfie and Filip progress here as their careers get underway.”
The two new apprentices already have strong family connections to James Ramsay and this has offered them a valuable insight into our business and the wider industry. Alfie, who has previously completed work experience with the company, is the son of one of our long-serving welders; and both Filip’s sister and stepfather are members of our team. Prepared with this existing understanding of how the company operates, the work we undertake, and our “always on” culture has helped these new recruits to stand out during the recruitment process.
By finding people with a positive outlook, and combining college-based learning with practical experience alongside experienced members of our team, we provide apprentices with the opportunity to develop the technical knowledge, skills and confidence needed to build successful long-term careers.
