We’ve completed a major HVAC upgrade at a popular swimming pool and leisure facility, including the refurbishment of two existing air handling units (AHUs) and the complete replacement of a third.
Delivered within a challenging six-week programme timeframe to meet the client’s financial year deadline, the project required careful coordination, clear communication and meticulous planning to ensure the busy leisure facility could remain fully operational throughout.
With this added complexity, our team needed to carefully plan and coordinate works around an active schedule of swimming lessons, fitness classes and the facility’s day-to-day commitments, ensuring minimal disruption for staff and customers.
As part of the refurbishment works to the two existing AHUs, working with our sub-contractor RPJ, our team carried out a full upgrade programme designed to improve system efficiency and long-term operational performance.
This included:
- Replacing dampers and actuators
- Replacing existing belt-driven fans with a new EC fan wall system and upgraded controls
- Installing new heat coils
- Carrying out a major clean of both existing units
Alongside this, we also completed the full replacement of a third air handling unit, with works including:
- Supply and installation of a new heat recovery AHU, complete with new controls
- Installation of new LTHW coils
- Alterations to existing ductwork to integrate the new system
