Celebrating SVQ success for Paul Clancy

Congratulations to Paul Clancy on officially completing his SVQ in Heating and Ventilating: Industrial and Commercial Installation – SCQF Level 6. This marks the successful completion of his apprenticeship and an important milestone in his engineering career.

Paul’s achievement is the culmination of a journey that began several years ago through the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s Glasgow Guarantee programme, where he joined us on a six-month work experience placement. From the outset, Paul impressed the team with his positive attitude, reliability and eagerness to learn, quickly demonstrating the qualities needed to build a successful career in the commercial heating industry.

Following the placement, Paul was offered a full-time role as a labourer, providing him with the opportunity to develop valuable practical experience on site while building his confidence and understanding of health and safety, teamwork and commercial engineering operations.

Recognising his potential, we supported Paul in securing a place on a four-year Heating and Ventilating apprenticeship with Glasgow Kelvin College. Throughout his apprenticeship, he gained extensive experience working across commercial heating systems, pipefitting, ventilation installations, planned and reactive maintenance, and customer service, developing the technical skills needed to become a qualified heating engineer.

Now, having officially completed his SVQ, Paul joins the team as a fully qualified engineer.

To celebrate his achievement, we’ve gifted Paul vouchers to purchase new tools as a small token of appreciation for his hard work and dedication over the past four years.

Ian Mathieson, Business Director at James Ramsay, said: “Everyone at James Ramsay is incredibly proud of what Paul has achieved. We’ve had the privilege of watching him develop from a work experience student into a fully qualified heating engineer, and his journey perfectly demonstrates what can be achieved through commitment, determination and the right support.

“Investing in people has always been central to our business, and Paul’s success is a fantastic example of why apprenticeships and early career opportunities are so important for our industry. We’d like to congratulate him on reaching this milestone and are delighted to recognise his achievement. We look forward to seeing him continue to grow and thrive as part of the James Ramsay team.”

Paul’s success reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in people, developing future engineering talent and creating long-term career opportunities within the business. By supporting apprentices from their first steps into the industry through to professional qualification, the company continues to strengthen its skilled workforce while delivering the high standards of service its customers expect.
